The Mahanagar Provati/Godhuli Express (Train No. 703/704) is a train in Bangladesh that goes between Chittagong and Dhaka. It starts from Chittagong and goes to Dhaka as Mahanagar Godhuli, then from Dhaka to Chittagong as Mahanagar Provati. This train connects places like Feni, Comilla, and Brahmanbaria districts. It shares the route with other trains like Subarna Express, Mahanagar Express, Turna Express, Sonar Bangla Express, Chattala Express, Dhaka/Chittagong Mail, and Karnaphuli Express. The train’s main station is Chittagong Railway Station.
Mohanagar Provati train started its service on 23 May 1986. The train used to use 3023 class engines, but before that, it ran on 2900 or 2600 class engines. At first, it traveled on old green-yellow coaches with vacuum brakes. Then, these were switched to new white coaches with air brakes from China. After that, the train’s coaches were changed again to red-green ones with air brakes from Indonesia. Right now, the train usually carries 16 coaches. These include 4 Tapanukul Chairs, 2 Tapanukul Sleepers, 7 Shobhan Chairs, 2 Shobhan Chair Guardbrake + Food Car, and 1 Power Car. However, during times of high passenger demand, like Eid, it can carry up to 18 coaches.
